COMEDY CELLAR

Welcome to the incredible, notorious, original home of the Comedy Cellar. This is one of the most famous comedy clubs in the United States and often has A-list comedians stopping by to perform unannounced shows. They do this because stand-up comedy is one of the only performing arts that you can't actually rehearse. You have to do it in front of a live audience, over and over again, to see if the material is any good…. even if you've been doing it for years. The same goes for Jerry Seinfeld, Chris Rock, Dave Chapelle, Amy Schumer, and many more performers who continue to practice their new material at this very club to this day.

Interested in attending a show? Here's a pro tip: Book your tickets a couple of weeks in advance at comedycellar.com and get tickets for the MacDougal Street venue if you can. (There's a couple of other Comedy Cellar venues around the corner on 3rd Street that are just as good, but this one is the original.)

90 minutes before your show, grab dinner at the Olive Tree just upstairs. Tell the waiter that you have tickets, and they'll give you the info on priority check-in. I promise, you'll have the time of your life regardless of who's playing.
